Custom Designs

We begin by offering an initial consultation to discuss specifics and evaluate the intended location where the piece will be displayed. The light source & direction will help determine the type of art glass to use. Although art certainly stands  alone, the density, color and texture of the glass can also compliment the existing décor. The overall size will dictate whether reinforcement will be necessary. Custom designs can be personalized with lettering or logos as well. Our goal is to offer guidance through the creative process and provide a creative solution that will make your custom design a one-of-a-kind art glass piece that will be cherished for years to come.

We then work up a design and provide a hard copy proof along with an itemized quotation including an estimated completion date. If the quotation meets with your approval, we ask for a 50% down payment with the final payment being due upon completion.

We do not do any installations, but will help coordinate and oversee the installation process. The installer can be someone you acquire or we can provide a reputable company.

Repairs

Repair costs are based on the number of labor hours involved and can range greatly depending on age, material used, location and extent of the damage. Obviously, if the replacement material is readily available and the damaged area is limited to a single location near the framework, less labor hours would be required. If the piece is older, replacement glass may be limited or discontinued. Additionally, if the damage is in multiple areas or near the center, it will take a considerable amount of time to disassemble the framework and the lead/solder to reach the damaged area. The design must also be considered. If the design is geometric with straight lines, versus a floral pattern with curved lines, that too will affect labor hours. In some cases it may be less expensive to use the damaged piece as reference to draw a new pattern and reconstruct the piece using new glass and materials.

We recognize that each repair situation presents a unique set of challenges so it’s always best to allow us to inspect the damage first before moving forward or discarding the piece entirely because there are always options and alternatives to consider so allow us to help you make this evaluation. Emailing a photo of the isolated damage is useful, but it's always best if you can bring the piece to our studio so we can give it a thorough inspection and better advise the best way to proceed. We provide this service at no charge. If the size of the piece prohibits removal or transporting, we can come to your location for a fee of $35 within a 10 mile radius of our studio. Travel beyond the radius involves an additional cost of $1.00 per mile.
